The Future Center is a “Ba” where stakeholders in the Future can gather and theorize together across the borders of industry, academia and government
Through cooperation between private enterprises and municipalities, governments, citizen networks and others, movements toward creating a sustainable co-creative economy and society are spreading all around the world to address rapidly changing social conditions, such as ageing, immigration, resource depletion, environmental problems and other social issues. The Future Center is a “Ba” where an unusual combination of people from various backgrounds can meet together for a single purpose, a function where the intellectual capital and knowledge assets of each stakeholder can join and multiply to create new value.
According to the Future Center founder Leif Edvinsson, the essence of the Future Center is to “go toward the impossible”. The future is an ever-moving target; therefore, the Future Center has to go a little faster than the rest of the world. It is a prototyping laboratory, where we gain new insights and connect them to organizational systems and future intellectual capital, a so-called amplifier of knowledge.
In order to expand innovation from personal initiatives to organizational activities, a “Ba” like the Future Center is essential “to clearly differentiate from the past”.Far beyond just an open place for workshops, there is an extraordinary diversity not bound by existing concepts, as well as an essential system for supporting all activities up to actual implementation in society.
