The Innovation Center is a “Ba” to promote innovation through external co-creation by utilizing your own company’s technology and resources
Up to now, each company has planned, researched, put into action, gained production approval from within the company, proceeded with manufacturing and production, and finally sent the finished product out to the world. From among such products, some with outstanding value were considered innovative.
However, with consumer values diversifying and social issues piling up, open innovation including business models and social systems are now necessary. While the Innovation Center takes various forms depending on the company, it is a “Ba” where by utilizing your own company resources (technology, equipment, human resources, information etc.) you can co-create with external sources and clients (citizens), research, develop, prototype, experiment etc. in ways that contribute to innovation.
The Innovation Center is not a function specific facility like previous institutions, where technology exhibitions and research facilities were separated, but rather, it maintains an environment that facilitates collaborative work with customers (citizens), external partners, and global resources. The Innovation Center is a “Ba” to practice lean start-up processes such as deepening customer understanding, finding new insights, forming business models, making prototypes, and conducting market testing while involving customers.
