Urban Climate Resilience

"Urban resilience is the critical capacity of any urban system to overcome all shocks and stresses to maintain continuity, with its inhabitants actively adapting and transforming for sustainability." /United Nations Human Settlements Program ("UNHCR")

It is predicted that by the second half of the 21st century, the earth's population will increase to 10 billion people, and about 70% of them will live in cities. At the same time, the effects of global warming and other factors will become increasingly serious for the people who live there, as well as for the governments and corporations that provide the infrastructure. However, many of the mega cities, with Tokyo as a prime example, have developed in fragile deltas, and a major challenge is their "resilience" to changes and disasters that go beyond conventional wisdom and countermeasures, such as climate change, epidemics, and terrorism.
